As tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day in the US, I’m reposting this.
Happy Thanksgiving, you all!
No Thanksgiving Day in France. But I will definitely miss the turkey and all its trappings. And the leftovers on the following days! In spirit, I’ll be with my friends Bob and Norma (Norma being a super cook).

Many random thoughts occur: do the French eat turkey at all…could we air express leftovers to Paris because we get so tired of them after a few days? Thanks for the good wishes. yours, naomi
Claude, I wish you could be in the U.S. to celebrate with us and eat your fill of turkey and all the trimmings!
Happy Thanksgiving to you too Claude! This year, I am actually making a traditional dinner but I’m making it on Friday rather than today.
One of the things I will be mentioning when talk turns to things we are thankful for is your friendship!!
Thanks be that WE’RE not turkeys….not the culinary kind, anyway. I’ll be offering thanks with a friend who is not only vegetarian but a RAW FOOD devotee…I’m gonna hold out for something cooked: a big, yummy falafel sandwich from Rainbow Falafel near Union Square. Happy holiday to you!!
Ah well as the saying goes ‘everybody and everything is somebodies lunch’.
That’s one good looking Turkey.
Ah, but will that French turkey survive Christmas?
So that is one lucky turkey. Naomi’s comment made me smile. A great idea shipping over those left-overs. This year we were at my daughter’s for the holiday so she is stuck with all the left-overs, but I am wishing I had brought home a few pieces of her delicious turkey for sandwiches.
Hi Claude
I remember so well when we got together in Boston, you told me about your visit with Norma and Bob’s home, the wonderful time you had and how you enjoyed everything that Norma made.
Even the turkey you had the next day! – Do I remeber correctly? Was it Turkey for breakfast?
Nice to see that picture of Norma and Bob. I don’t think I had seen it before. I hope they had a good Thanksgiving and you too, Claude. We had friends from California here this week and it has been a great visit.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Claude, Norma prepared a 13 kilo turkey for Thanksgiving, pre-stuffing weight, which took 8 1/2 hours to cook. It came from a nearby turkey farm. We feasted on it Thursday (14 people) and Saturday (10 more takers) and again last night in a turkey tetrazzini* for the 4 remaining at the house, and the bird is nearly all gone.
It was nice to see your link to the photos of your trip to Massachusetts and New Hampshire a few years ago. We thought of you as Norma was preparing her leftover turkey sandwich at lunch yesterday.
* the recipe I think Norma used for the turkey tetrazzini:
6 oz. spaghetti, cooked
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. flour
2 2/3 c. chicken broth
1 c. cream
1/4 c. sherry
1 tsp. salt
Pepper to taste
1/2 lb. mushrooms
1/2 c. chopped green peppers
1 c. grated Parmesan cheese
In large pot, melt butter; add flour and whisk. Add wine, cream, seasonings, cheese, turkey, mushrooms and green peppers. Place cooked spaghetti in bottom of baking dish and top with tetrazzini mixture. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.
Well, it’s a bit late for Happy Thanksgiving but I’ll say it anyway! Since getting back here I have been superbusy and got a bit of a breather today to poke around on blogs. Thanks for the turkey tetrazzini recipe, Bob! I inherited some leftovers and made a turkey version of Brunswick stew which is pretty tasty.
Claude, I too am grateful for your friendship this year and for the time we spent together in June!
