I found this link, Things Other People Accomplished When They Were Your Age , through a contact on my tumblr blog, ammon, who got it via Random Dee Droppings
I typed my age, 63, and read this:

At age 63:
Clergyman and writer Jonathan Swift wrote A Modest Proposal, possibly the best satire ever written in English.
John Dryden undertook the enormous task of translating the entire works of Virgil into English verse.
Countess Rosa Branicka, a wealthy Polish noble, performed breast cancer surgery on herself and lived to be 82.
Elizabeth Kingsley created the double-crostic puzzle.

Go there, type your age and enjoy! Just the sort of thing that puts me in a good mood. ;)

  1. Wouldn’t you like to be able to see (just for a moment) into the future and know what people our age have been accomplishing now?

  2. Yes, this is a fun link I’ll have to try. I like the comment above. It would be nice to know what people will remember about these times.

  3. Frieda Birnbaum became the oldest woman in the U.S. to give birth to twins.

I did what you said and for my age of 60, the above was one of the things that came up. Downright scary, I say! TWINS? Whew!

  4. Auto-breast cancer surgery at any age or era… a wonder of the world. Reminds me of similar report in recent years of a scientist (maybe she was a medical doctor) similarly challenged while marooned doing research in the south pole, I think,

Got a chance to sample some of your photos. Loved them.

me but some of my co-workers.

  6. @ Helen, thanks! I hope you’ll be back :)
@ tamar, this auto breast surgery sort of freaked me out! Not something that I’d like to try on myself!
@ Terri, please, that is unmentionable. Who would want a baby at 63! much less two! Brrrr… ;)
    @ MotherPie, I too love Endment’s comments.
@ Endment, I bet a lot of us are doing things that our mothers would never have dreamt of… And yes, I’d love to know more about what some of you are doing!

  9. I see that and I think about all the people my own age or younger who have accomplished great things and I’m so impressed by them.

  10. At age 77:(My current age)

    Grandma Moses started painting.

Groucho Marx played God in the movie “Skidoo.”

John Glenn became the oldest person to go into space, in a study of how space flight affects the elderly.

Yogi Berra published his book “What Time Is It? You Mean Now?: Advice for Life from the Zennest Master of Them All.”

Ed McMahon appeared in “Pitch People,” a documentary about people who make a living pitching products.”

The one that appeals to me is the Grandma Moses painting.
I need to get out my oils and brushes.
