This and That

A couple of weeks ago, I went to see Little Miss Sunshine. My friend Liliane and myself both loved it! It’s a sort of crazy road movie, makes you laugh a lot but also sometimes brings you close to tears. I don’t really want to tell you much about the plot as it develops along the road, on the way to a little girls’ beauty contest. Great acting and a great script. I loved Alan Arkin in the role of the grandfather and found Paul Dano remarkable as teenager Dwayne who hasn’t uttered a word for nine months. The movie won the Grand Prix at Deauville’s Festival du Cinéma Américain and well deserved it. Now, come to think of it, French people might like it more than American people do. Let me know if you’ve seen it!

  1. I’ve seen it and loved it. C’est une impitoyable caricature d’une société américaine hyper rigide et monstrueusement convenue mais aussi un portrait généreux de ceux qui tentent d’y survivre sans y laisser leur âme. Belle pièce d’humour.

  2. I was surprised to see that Chancy wants to see Borat. From what I have heard from friends who have seen it, they thought it was crude, very poor taste and some thought it should be rated X.

    Hope she sees this comment.

I know she has a great sense of humor – but this movie is way-out!

  3. My first post here. I love your site.

I saw Little Miss Sunshine and loved it! I particularly liked the young man, Paul Dano’s character, who hasn’t uttered a word in months. The first word out of his mouth is hilarious and sad. Everyone I know has loved it.
