Blogging in Paris
I carefully went through Steve Garfield‘s vlogs and found a lovely slideshow of photos taken at a friend’s wedding. Steve said that he had used iPhoto to create it and export it. So I figured that I could, this once, use iPhoto. As he prescribed I created a slideshow of photos taken at Fountains Abbey, that, for the most part I hadn’t posted to flickr. As the slideshow was quite ‘heavy’, I used MovietoMPeg to convert the slideshow to an MPEG file. I realize that all these are boring details, and I am basically writing them down to remember how I went about it.
Sorry, folks, I am trying to reinstall the plugin and the video as it looks like it’s not working properly. And remember! I don’t know what I am doing here ![]()

Hmm, maybe it’s ME….but I tried and tried to play this. All I got was a quick three beats of a piece of music and that was it.
No video at all.
Are there glitches here?
There must be a glitch, as I managed to reproduce it on a PC. It doesn’t do it on the mac.
If you click the VideoMpg icon under the pic, you get the slideshow. There is obviously more to it than I thought. I can’t get the RSS validated either, so I guess I’m going to have to give up on this as I don’t understand what is going on.
claude, congratulations on moving ahead with the technology.
and thanks for the details, might inspire someone else to try.
did i think sound was a useful addition? first thought: with
only images i could believe you yourself were taking me on this
journey. with sound, felt as if a travelogue element had been
added. somehow less personal. this may make no sense whatever
but…
yours, naomi who’s way behind in embarking on flickrland
Hi Claude
I was very excited to see what you did, there is no stopping you!!
At first I had trouble viewing your video but then I did what you suggested to Terri and clicked on videoMPG and saw and heard your video – “wonderful”
I have to be carefull when I ask Steve, “what is this,: because he will say “Ma, why don’t you do it.” That’s how I started blogging.
I applaud Claude!!
I have trouble getting ANY video to play on my computer and don’t know why. They start and stop then play a little further the next time. Have been told I need to go to DSL and get off a dial up connection. So I only saw the first 2 slides of this but I’m sure it’s my computer..
I clicked on mpg icon and elsewhere but had the same experience as Terri. Tried several different times. Will keep checking into trying whatever you offer, Claude.
Put my among the ones that couldn’t get it to work. I applaud you for all the tech. stuff…it’s Greek to me.
I’m so impressed with your bravery. I’m sure you will get it sorted out and then I will be inspired to put video pclips in my blog too! I havee this fear that I am going to do some wrong thing with html and reduce my blog to a big blank page with nothing but some disembodied html code floating in white space.
It seems like a fun thing to do that’s for sure. Is there no end to all this new stuff? Goodonya for having a go – I’ll follow your progress with interest.
thanks
Della
I wasn’t able to get it either, but want to
congratulate you on your determination.
Oh! Bravo Claude! That was beautiful!!! The music was lovely too. Thank you for such a beautiful start to my day.
This was great, Claude, ran perfectly with music almost to the end, then the audio/music stopped while the video went on.
Bravo, dear Claude! I can’t wait to see what will develop from here on out! Please keep us u[ to speed as things progress. I’m praising and appauding you back here in the peanut section!
